About PNR Status
PNR (Passenger Name Record) is a unique 10-digit number assigned to every railway ticket booked in India. The PNR status helps you track your booking and check real-time updates about your seat allocation, coach number, and current booking status.
What is PNR Number?
A PNR number is generated at the time of booking a railway ticket and contains all the information about your journey, including passenger details, train details, date of journey, boarding point, destination, and fare. This 10-digit number is printed on your ticket and can be used to check the status of your booking online.
How to Check PNR Status?
Simply enter your 10-digit PNR number in the search box above and click "Check Status". You will instantly receive complete information about your booking including current seat allocation status, coach number, berth number, and chart preparation status.
Understanding PNR Status
- CNF (Confirmed): Your ticket is confirmed with assigned coach and berth number.
- RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation): You have a reserved seat but not a confirmed berth. You can board the train and may get a berth if someone cancels.
- WL (Waitlisted): Your ticket is on the waiting list. The number indicates your position in the queue.
- RLWL (Remote Location Waiting List): Waiting list for intermediate stations.
- PQWL (Pooled Quota Waiting List): Waiting list for passengers traveling between intermediate stations.
Chart Preparation
The final chart for a train is usually prepared 4 hours before the scheduled departure from the originating station. After chart preparation, the PNR status shows the final confirmed status. If your ticket is still waitlisted after chart preparation, it will be automatically canceled and refund will be processed.
Important Points
- Check PNR status regularly to stay updated about your booking.
- Chart preparation happens 4 hours before train departure.
- RAC passengers are allowed to board the train.
- Waitlisted passengers cannot board if ticket is not confirmed.
- Keep your PNR number safe for future reference.
